Quinoa, a natural whole grain, is known as the "mother grain". It has a higher protein content (an average of 16%) than any other grain and contains all 8 essential amino acids, making it a complete vegetable protein. The essential amino acid balance is close to the ideal set by the United States Food & Agricultural Organization.

It is low in fat, rich in minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium and iron and full of vitamins.

Grown on the high altitudes of the Andes in South America, quinoa is gluten-free and an excellent alternative for people allergic to wheat and corn products. Quinoa is light and easy to digest. It is easy to cook and very versatile, like rice.

It is consumed for strength and endurance.

SENSORIC SPECIFICATION:

Appearance:  Beige, discoidal, round seed with visible germ bud. Other colors like red and black quinoa are also available, though harvested in less quantities.

Odour:  Aromatic, no foreign odour

Taste: Mild aromatic, not rancid, not old nor bitter, no foreign taste

Free from any off-flavours or excessive saponins

Our quinoa grains are pre-washed  to remove saponin which gives the bitter-tasting coating and optically selected to remove all black tips.
